(Credit: Boxee)If you're like us at GeekFilter, you dumped your old-media cable service around the time all the banks started failing apart and never looked back. We get our content from either Netflix, iTunes or a multitude of online services. Boxee is a great--if not temperamental--service that has been in Alpha for a while. Boxee aggregates different media content as well as providing a social networking component.
Monday, December 7th in New York City, Boxee will be unveiling their Beta demo as well as new applications from partners. It also kicks off 4-weeks of early-access for users to test the Beta before it's released to the public at CES on Jan 7th.
From the email:
The Boxee Beta will look, feel and behave differently from the Alpha. It takes into account many of the requests and feedback we received from users in the past year.
The Beta will feature:
- new user interface
- improved navigation
- search TV Shows and Movies
- a user controlled Queue
- shortcuts
- more...
We've have been heads down working on it for the past few months, and we're really anxious to get it into
At the event they will also be showing mockups of the upcoming Boxee Box, a set-top box that will help get around all those annoying Apple TV hack issues!
And don't worry, if you can't make it to New York, the event will be streamed live by LiveStream on the Boxee Blog at http://blog.boxee.tv/
