Geek Linkage For the week for February 28th

Syd Mead designed Blade Runner Spinner

Why did the video game arcade die out in America and why is it still alive in Japan?  It comes down to coins of course. Brian Crecente explains

According to the LA Times, Blade Runner may be coming back in prequel (or sequel) form, but apparently we Geeks aren't too happy about it, says UK's The Telegraph  I just want to know if Syd Mead will be involved!

Speaking of squels; The JJ Abrahm's Star Trek sequel has been green-lit, but Shatner tells the Australian Sunday Herald-Sun he doesn't see a place for himself. He's probably too busy overcharging for personal appearances!

Oh yeah, there was that little tech company announcement about that tablet thing. If you're wondering how much a data plan will cost, All things D did a nice AT&T versus Verizon price comparison. I'm trying out Verizon, since they bring in extra towers and boost the network during Comic-Con.
